When your government tells you how to shop, think, interract with others, and spend your money you know they've gone too far ... we're at that point now

Shop where you want to shop.. ignore the obnoxious social engineers! #unmasked 2020

Help promote the #ShopLocal movement 🛍️

While no one needs to be convinced that 2020 has been incredibly hard on businesses across Canada, not everyone knows how to help. As many regions battle a second wave of COVID-19, we can combine our efforts to further influence others in supporting local stores, restaurants and services. If you’re a business owner or an employee, we encourage you to explain to your networks of friends, family and followers why it’s important to shop and support local and how this will have a ripple effect on the broader economy. Each one of us has a stake and a role to play in Canada’s economic recovery.

Your support can take many different forms. Small businesses are making every effort to respond to current health concerns by offering online shopping and delivery or curbside pickup options, as well as leveraging digital tools to provide a safer experience. Already, many Canadians are making a point of shopping locally for their gifts during this holiday season. We want to encourage others to do the same—when and where it’s safe to do so if in person, as guided by public health officials. And if you are a business owner or an employee, let those local shoppers know that you notice and appreciate their efforts! ISED has been posting regularly about the importance of supporting local on our various social media channels. We’ve even developed a Facebook frame (pinned on our Canada Business Facebook page) for local shoppers to show that they’ve been investing in their community. Please consider sharing our posts or creating your own and perhaps adding a word of appreciation as well as a picture or a video to put a face on this campaign. We also encourage business owners to tag 🏷️ their Facebook page in the comments.

We hope that you will be a part of the movement and join the conversation by using #ShopLocal and #SupportLocal on your social media channels.
