Public invited to share housing concerns this Saturday » CHMA, Voice of the Marshes

"Housing will be the topic of conversation at Tantramar’s municipal office this Friday and Saturday, as the Mayor’s Roundtable on Housing hosts its first major event.

A Friday stakeholder session featuring provincial and federal agencies is not open to the public or the media, but Saturday’s session will include an open mic for residents to share their experiences and concerns, says Mayor Andrew Black. Saturday will also include presentations on student housing, planning rules, non-profit housing, co-op housing, and ageing in place."

"Black says he’s hoping the sessions will help council understand the housing needs in the region."

“The problem that the mayor’s roundtable has is that it’s just, you know, a group of us that are operating somewhat in a vacuum,” says Black. “We want to make sure that what we’re talking about makes sense, so we decided to have this two-day housing event.”

Friday will be a “targeted stakeholder session,” says Black, with representatives from the New Brunswick Regional Development Corporation, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, developers, and mortgage specialists, all “sitting in a room talking about their organizations and the connections between municipalities and housing concerns.”

Though members of the public and media will not be permitted to observe the session, the municipality has hired a visual graphic recorder to document what’s said. “That information will be carried over into Saturday,” says Black, “which will help form the conversation that we have with the broader public.”

Saturday’s session ends with a plenary to bring together information from both days and come up with “next steps for the municipality,” says Black.

“Over the next couple of months the mayor’s roundtable will compile a lot of that data and see what next steps are,” says Black. “At the very least, I’m hopeful that we’ll hear from the public so that we can get a sense of broad and specific housing concerns within the municipality. So as a council, we can hear that.”

There’s no registration for Saturday’s event and all are invited. Snacks and refreshments will be provided."

Reposting: If I Had A Dollar For Every Time The Planners Started a Visioning Session Here I Would Be Rich!

Just remember.. the university culture is calling the shots in this small town.... they just need warm bodies to show up and give the appearance of consensus/agreement .. its called the "delphi technique" and you can google that one on youtube in your spare time... I just get such a kick out of the herd mentality and really love the predictability and cognitive dissonance in Bagtown.

If one were to go back through their books and study the expenditures on planning, visioning, workshopping or just general "clusterfucking" as I like to call it .. they'd see that all that money could have easily paid for a really great concrete skatepark project here years ago.. but hey.. these 'consultants' know something we just don't.. isn't that what they're selling?

I've already approached our "Ron Kelly-Spurles" about my idea and you know what he does by now.. he just whips out his cell phone and films me while threatening to call the police on me .. such a little man .. Ha!  Ron... you are the epitomy of weakness and stupidity!  God help you in your cult of green.

We want to hear from you! Portfolio, the consulting team leading the development of the Town’s new Marketing Plan, will be hosting a World CafĂ© on January 18, 2020. Residents are invited to give their input on the Town’s positioning efforts and provide guidance for future marketing initiatives. The results of the session will be integrated into a realistic and achievable five-year Marketing Plan, which is aligned with existing assets and priorities of the Town. We look forward to seeing you on January 18! "

Who you need to pay attention to .. Beth McMahon CEO of the Canadian Institute of Planners based in Ottawa -- they are the administrative mafia for land-use control freakery.  Unelected, networked and very well funded.  They're hoping you won't notice what they get up and just keep paying your attention to the puppet politicians who follow the same Agenda for control and scarcity, U.N. Agenda 2030 'sustainable development' - it is the problem...

Some may remember Beth McMahon from her days in Sackville NB ... I first met Beth in 2010 at a Halifax Health Expo where she hosted a table for "ACORN Atlantic" ACORN (@acornorganic) / Twitter

Jamie Burke, CEO of Sackville.com will be moving on from his post -- where will his career take him next?  Town of Tantramar election coming.... new mayor and new councillors too..

According to the white paper recently released on Municipal Reform in New Brunswick, the first task of the new municipality will be to decide on a name for the region. Then comes an election in November 2022 for new representation.
What if the citizens of the region participate by suggesting appropriate names - ones that are inclusive and a new start rather than one that feels like domination and loss of identity. Something relevant to the entire area that brings us closer together, instead of dividing us. I think we can rest assured it will be several generations before the names of Dorchester, Sackville, Aulac, Point de Bute, Westcock, etc disappear from our individual identities, if they ever do.
I'll start - we could formally be known as "The Greater Tantramar Municipality" but casually just "Tantramar". The marshes are a unique and important part of our history and our attraction to the outside world. That name would also include the Acadians who first settled this area and dyked the marshes. We already have a well known Tantramar high school.
Change is coming whether we like it or not. Let's be proactive - and positive.
