Special Council Meeting - November 21, 2024 - Mayor Andrew Black Was Absent - Deputy Mayor Greg Martin Presiding

Aulac's unelected acclaimed representative Greg Martin 506-536-1337 was appointed Deputy Mayor for a second term by Mayor Andrew Black and holds this meeting in Mayor Black's absence and again repeats the commentary that we are on "unceded" territory which we are not.. he has been asked by telephone on November 19th to stop repeating this commentary in public as it is a fraudulent claim and is not to be made by any politician in Tantramar.. especially considering how old the province of New Brunswick is and because our territory was settled long back in the 1700s by a King who granted lands to settlers.  But again to see Deputy Mayor Greg Martin continue to make this claim in defiance of this recent request by a local means that Greg Martin has his own feelings about these land claims, what they mean, and why he must make them to the public on the record without any justification other than saying "well they're doing it everywhere else ... like Toronto"..  sorry, but that's not good enough Greg Martin.. please learn about the importance of your legal responsibilities and perhaps be willing to defend your stance in public during question period in the future.  Forewarned is forearmed. Is this important to you? Please advise your elected representatives that these fraudulent land claim acknowledgements by our elected local politicians are not something that you support.  Thanks.

"I was surprised and disappointed to learn that the Conservative government is closing the provincial Visitor Information Centre in Aulac. The previous Liberal government closed the Visitor Information Centre in Cape Jourimain. The impact of this new closure will be felt by the local businesses in our area, but also across the province. Memramcook-Tantramar is the gateway to New Brunswick from the other Maritime provinces and should be part of the provincial tourism strategy.

Why doesn’t this government want to welcome people into New Brunswick and avoid being the “drive-through” province?"

I wonder what will be the new " life " for this lovely A Frame building?  Perhaps a new business or gallery or museum or craft shop ?  All kinds of options at a great location .. I think it s a wise decision by Premier Higgs [money saver]

Sackville NB actually also has a Welcome Centre and a Wetlands Centre  -- and that might just be enough eh?  New Brunswick isn't a drive-through province its just not a very developed province and ironically Big Green Inc. is the reason for that ... so when a green party MLA asks this sort of question I have to chuckle.  Per capita I would suggest this province has more environmentalists than any other province.. and I don't know if you've noticed or not but environmentalists tend to be anti-development.

As for everything green it would be great

to see our MLA Megan Mitton 

promoting housing solutions such as

earth natural build cob homes

like the one shown above...

there is no shortage of affordable

 land in the region

and more homes built with natural materials

and affordable methods would be great.

Something I appreciate about the Irving Family .. they understand tradition in New Brunswick and make a big effort to preserve our culture and our stories... our history matters.. this region is rich with great history, stories, pioneers, settlers...
