"The very first community land trust, New Communities Inc., emerged from the American civil rights movement more than 50 years ago. In 1969, in rural Georgia, community organizers were looking for a way to protect African Americans from the eviction and job loss that desegregation had engendered. Taking ownership of the land they lived, worked, and farmed on looked like the best, most direct path to independence and security. Inspired by the kibbutz movement in Israel, the organizers purchased a large parcel of farmland, with profits from the sale of soy and corn used to service debt on the land. While discrimination and drought led to the collapse of the original farm in 1985, New Communities continued its mission of economic and community development. It also paved the way for dozens of other innovative CLTs across the U.S. and Europe, each with distinctive ambitions, governance structures, and financial arrangements. But a couple decades later, as major cities grew increasingly dense, with gentrification rampant and real estate overheating, the model became increasingly attractive."

 A well known local 'communitarian meddler' Alice Cotton continues to promote her "change agent" commie views on Facebook page "Tantramar Affordable Housing Initiative" ... in a recent post about the "community land trust" model for housing which is basically another way of saying kibbutzism.. why do it? Why promote this model? Why not promote more private lands being developed and more builders and tradesmen encouraged to build here - that is the solution - there is no shortage of lands in the Tantramar.. is there? #BuildBackBeauty

Backyard homes..... Why? There is nothing but land - lots and lots of land - in Tantramarshire-- so there is no need to pack people in tightly and on top of each other so why promote it?

 Toronto city thinking isn't really even a fit for the spacious realm of Tantramarshire because we surely must be willing to dream a little bigger about life around here... and not 'get it wrong' as Toronto has!

Shared this because this is what [from Ontario] former town councillor "Margaret Tusz-King" of Sackville New Brunswick [who incidentally has a number of homes and acreages] has recommended to the poor people struggling to find rental accommodation in the manufactured housing crisis that Sackville now faces -- more at their Facebook page "Coalition" -- housing is not the problem; UN Agenda 2030 controls and restrictions is the problem but no one is going to discuss their oppressive global agenda at play - and those pushing for government controls over all resources and lands ie they want to put everyone into a SMARTcity where they don't own anything but are rental slaves in a system that wants to see them poor, struggling and demoralized...

So, do we think that there should be no incentives to build apartments? No incentives or benefits to taking the risks, to having initiative, to helping build a product to benefit a community? I think that’s called socialism or communism. Yes, there needs to be government involvement. I believe the government is not doing enough. One way to combat housing costs is supply. There needs to be a medium between capitalism and housing. Without incentive, we have the government building homes and we know how that would go."

The trend has been to build apartments and smartgrowth high density housing in Sackville which is in alignment with UN Agenda 2030 -- ask why that is and you'll understand why the reality now exists of housing that is affordable for families being difficult to find -- they don't want you to prosper, have a home or even a family -- sustainable development is an anti-human agenda.

You should not be afraid to speak this truth!

"Thanks for covering this issue.. it wasn’t long ago the people of this town were welcoming refugees and providing them with free housing… maybe if Canadians focussed on their own instead of foreigners that are flooding into our nation in record breaking numbers they’d get this problem under control… the current set of politicians have willfully created scarcity by not recognizing how hard it already was for many low income struggling and working class Canadians to secure affordable housing… I don’t mean to pit people against ‘newcomers’ but I would say that part of the reason I got on the local ‘shit list’ was for speaking about this obvious problem in Sackville… I have known for years how kind people are here to ‘incoming foreigners’ while all the time seeing their own struggling and oblivious to helping them… I hope people learn to use discernment on what it means to help your fellow neighbour out…. Its so obvious that there are solutions… stop importing so many newcomers including international students who use this town as an immigration entry point."

The Town's CAO Jamie Burke was also found responsible for many renters losing their homes here and the loss of potential housing units by the Town's Council - so in reality is it a culture of anti-landlords... why? Power hungry.

 The late Mr. Gordon Hallet Beal was punished and made an example of for his efforts in trying to provide housing -- this should be addressed but it won't be... we don't need another coalition here but we do need a lot less taxation by N.B. government and the authorities who deem themselves our masters just to get out of the way of people developing property to live in. Abundance should be the natural state, not scarcity. Read:

Alice Cotton spoke about housing issues.

"The mother of a young daughter who lives in a three-bedroom home on Squire Street appealed to town council last night for help in solving Sackville’s housing crisis.

Ashley Legere, who works for a non-profit organization finding housing for 185 homeless people in Moncton, says she is now facing homelessness herself.

“As of Saturday, my rental has been sold and I have three months to move out of my home, the only home my daughter has ever known,” she told council.

Legere explained that her rent is $1250 per month including utilities, but that so far, the only comparable housing she can find in Sackville is an unaffordable $2400 monthly with nothing included."

If a rental payment of $1250 per month was enough to cover the mortgage on a home - maybe Ashley needs to have a crowdfunding for a down payment to get her into a home of her own and secure her future?  Just an idea.
