Mel's Tearoom ends a 77 year long run in October 2022 - thanks Wendy & crew - contact @ melstearoom1945@gmail.com

Big-hearted Wendy Epworth picked out this cup for me.. its from the UK... like me.

We are so happy that our beloved Mel’s sign will remain in our new town of Tantramar, finding its home on The Dorchester Jail ❤️

I was drawn in by the lit up sign... I dropped by their place on their last night and donated $20 and dropped off one of my infamous cards. Wendy and Dave Epworth's crew and relatives were working hard cleaning out and emptying their items and stuff - its all up for sale still -- I picked out a little white teapot, white cup and a sugar packets holder, for my souvenirs... feel free to show them some love and support as they finish their "Mel's" journey and make their way to what's next for them.. Twas a rough ride during convid, and the other problems this last year.  Thanks for organizing the Buskerfest Wendy, good fun.

Good news though... Dave Epworth will be the man behind the food and drinks service counter now at the local ice rink!

What happened to the Epworth's causing their problems and big loss of this well-known much-loved family business? Here:

"Mel's Tearoom

Brian Lloyd French --it’s tragic & we are devastated. We bought the business from Ken Mikalauskas in late 2018. Had 2019 as our only “normal” year, the covid 2020 & 2021. Survived that. In 2022 our kitchen ceiling collapsed because Ken failed to repair a roof that had been leaking for years. We have been closed since then. He sold the building to someone else when we had always planned to purchase the building - and after covid years, needed to own the building to make our bottom line work. Tried to sell Mel’s for the last 2 months to ensure it would continue - no luck. We had until midnight tonight to vacate the space."
