Pickering City Councillor Lisa Robinson - Official Statement regarding Mayor Ashe's accusations of racism

198 views Feb 8, 2024

My Official Statement to Mayor Kevin Ashe's unfortunate accusation of racism towards me in response to my op-ed piece in The Central Newspaper regarding Black History Month. I want to make it clear that my intention is to advocate for a society where individuals are not judged by the colour of their skin, their religion, or sexual preference, but by their character. Unfortunately, Mayor Ashe would rather political posture and spread mistruths. He has never attempted to have a constructive conversation with me regarding my recent publications or motions I tried to bring forward months ago for my constituents. I have been subject to his name-calling, bullying, and his displays of outrageous temper during Council meetings which raises questions about his suitability for the role of a leader. I urge the Mayor to reflect upon his actions and consider the impact they have on the community he serves.

I want to make it clear to everyone that no matter what obstacles I face I will not bow down to this bullying and tyranny. I am not perfect, but I do know the difference between right and wrong and I will remain on this course of doing what is right for all. I am committed to you the people, not staff, not fellow councillor's, not special interest or lobby groups. As an Elected Official, my job is to be your voice "Empower the People, Ignite Change" - Lisa Robinson

Saint John's 24 yr old City Councillor David Hickey - Banner of Plastic

This is the best our universities are producing?

Maybe lil David hasn't heard of recycling resources yet?

Some more experienced "adulting" city councillor just needs to have a chat with him about it.  Let him know some innovative fellas in Nova Scotia are building homes with recycled plastic bottles... eh?
