A major stakeholder in LNG Canada has had positive conversations with the federal and BC governments, which have "raised the likelihood" of a final investment decision on LNG Canada Phase 2, expected in the coming months.
Phase 2 would double LNG Canada's export capacity from 14 million tonnes per year to 28 million tonnes per year, benefitting Canadians through new jobs, economic opportunities, and tax revenues.
The announcement comes right on the heels of LNG Canada's stakeholder making a major acquisition of a Canadian natural gas company — the largest pure-play producer in the Montney basin, which directly feeds LNG Canada's supply chain.
"There has been a significant leap forward in terms of their conviction [governments] around LNG projects."
LNG Canada Phase 2 is already on Prime Minister Carney's shortlist of five major projects being reviewed for fast-track approval under the new Building Canada Act.
This is all wonderful news for Canada's energy and economic future!
