John Lafford Purchased Historic Property at 131 Main Street Sackville New Brunswick Property in 2022

Lafford's smartgrowth development next to University's "Swan Pond" increasing "density" downtown.

Lafford [a "preferred developer"] has purchased the iconic property that had been owned by Gordon Hallet Beal who passed away in 2021...

Mansion house is known as Joseph F. Allison House, according to historicplaces.ca.

Students being evicted in the winter was not a good look for our town at all...

"Planner Lori Bickford says a complaint came in to her office this summer about renovations happening at 131 Main Street, without a building permit. That complaint led to an inspection, the discovery of the zoning infraction and safety issues, and the town issuing an order in August. After the Beals failed to comply, the town took them to court."

John Lafford has a lot of properties in town and is a very wealthy businessman/developer/builder - including his new "Three Sisters on the River" Moncton development - a massive undertaking sure to provide much needed housing units - article here:

I've often thought how amazing a 17-storey highrise in Sackville would be one day-- with stunning, panoramic views I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to live in a very roomy, sunny, airy, luxury suite with views to the north, south, east and west including terraces, balconies for additional space in outdoor living and for growing plants and veggies and relaxing in fresh air spaces... that would be incredible!  Will John Lafford be inspired to build the "first one" in Tantramarshire.

Lafford says he plans to use the 131 Main Street property for a boutique hotel for the town that the visiting Mount Allison University Alumni would enjoy and he hasn't ruled out putting in some rental housing there also because it makes a good location for residences.... interview by Erica Butler here:
