#Barton holds that TJs have a responsibility to instruct juries about colonization and systemic racism and to take steps to ensure that juries don't draw on racialized and colonial stereotypes when a victim is Indigenous. This is important - a big step forward.
It's lovely to see #SCC adopt the feminist, Indigenous position on many of the issues engaged by this case. But it frankly adds insult to injury when the court fails to acknowledge the work - and the love - Indigenous women and feminists poured into #JusticeforCindy
