Tougher screening needed
Re: “Soft-pedalling racism” (June 2 letter). The bleeding-heart-liberal writer makes a false connection between the National Citizens Alliance and white supremacy. The NCA rejects all forms of racism and supremacy. It has zero tolerance for radical extremism, whether on the right, centre or left.
Sorry, but there is no budge in our stance on tough screening for people who want to come to Canada. If elected, our party would ensure screening of people for beliefs and values that are counter to our liberties and civil rights, and people who pose a threat to Canadians, like the Edmonton terrorist who entered under the last establishment regime (despite first being rejected by the U.S.A.).
In addition, the NCA is against recognizing a single asylum case from people entering Canada illegally from the U.S. Right now, the federal government is processing thousands of asylum seekers at taxpayers’ expense. We’d amend the Safe Third Country Agreement with the U.S. to prevent this from happening.
Canada is our homeland. All Canadians have a duty and responsibility to guard it. Unity should and must be Canada’s greatest strength.
